Islamabad United launches PSL campaign with victory

Islamabad United defeated Multan Sultans by three wickets in the sixth season match of Pakistan Super League at National Cricket Stadium Karachi on Sunday. The Sultans gave Islamabad United a 151-run target to win, which they completed in 19 overs. Lewis Gregory remained unbeaten on 49.At the beginning of the match, the batsmen of Islamabad United were not allowed to stand on their feet by the Sultans and the bowlers piled them up one by one. Shahid Afridi took three wickets, Khushdal Shah one, Carlos two and Mohammad Omar one. However, in the last overs of the match, Islamabad backed down and Gregory’s brilliant innings ensured the victory.Earlier, Multan Sultans scored 150 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and gave Islamabad United a target of 151 runs to win. Shahid Afridi was dismissed without scoring a run.

Le Rousseau batted aggressively but Shadab Khan dismissed him for 25 runs. Sohaib Maqsood came after him but he too fell victim to Muhammad Waseem after scoring two runs. Islamabad United won the toss and elected to field.
Earlier in the day, Lahore Qalandars defeated Peshawar Zalmi by four wickets in the first match of the tournament on Sunday.

Islamabad United is led by young all-rounder Shadab Khan while Muhammad Rizwan is the captain of Multan Sultans.
